INFO ACCESS NOW! Right2Know Public Meeting

How can communities deepen the fight against secrecy in SA?

You are invited to a public meeting hosted by the Right2Know campaign on Wed 20 April 2011, at 9am to 4pm.

The Secrecy Bill is a symptom of a greater struggle: ordinary South Africans are living in a climate of secrecy. Social justice is built on transparency and the free flow of information. So let the truth be told, and demand INFO ACCESS NOW!

The Right2Know campaign is entering a new phase in the fight for information rights in South Africa. We are calling on communities, organisations, and individuals to make a public submission about information that they are struggling to access from government or the private sector. Groups in the Western Cape are already lining up to make testimonies about the face of secrecy in their community, with topics ranging from political party funding and Eskom pricing to housing development and service delivery.

After submissions have been made, all groups will have a strategic discussion on how they can work within the Right2Know campaign to get access to the information they need. See this document explaining how you can make a submission.
