Marikana march, Cape Town 15 Aug 2014

R2K Western Cape was a part of a coalition of organisations convening Marikana solidarity action this week. Our substantive work here has been in a vigil on police brutality in town on Friday and a mass march to Philippi East police station today (and also in navigating the Regulations of Gatherings Act in both). Both events had good attendance from R2K and partner orgs (including Numsa) and a massive turn-out from police. We even had a commitment from SAPS Central Station Commander that they will host an internal screening of Miners Shot Down. Uhuru Productions donated a free copy.
