R2K: High Court Rules Charging Fees to Protest is Unconstitutional

The High Court in Joburg has just handed down a judgement declaring the City of Joburg’s charging of fees for gatherings/protests  to be unconstitutional (case was brought by R2K with assistance from CALS) ✊🏼. Summary states the following: “City of Johannesburg levying of fees for gatherings under the Regulation of Gatherings Act No 205 of 1993 unconstitutional.  The City of Johannesburg Policy on the Tariff of charges shall exclude any charge for gatherings, to assemble, to demonstrate, to picket and to present petitions.” See judgement below
