R2K 2014 Whistleblowers: Segomoco Sibambato

SecomocoSibambatoSegomoco Sibambato, a former manager at the Transport, Education and Training Authority, was fired after raising concerns that the CEO had flouted procurement policies. The procurement of services from Pretoria-based IT firm Mondial was irregular because the tender was not put to open bidding or closed bidding.

Eventually, a government investigation vindicated Segomoco and led to the suspension of Teta’s CEO. It concluded that the services for which Mondial received R197 448 were not specialised and could have been provided by at least 30 other IT firms in the Johannesburg area.
